I greatly admire the opulence and beauty of the still life paintings of the Golden Age Dutch Masters. This modern version of opulence with draped damask, silver, glass, flowers and fruit is a nod to  Jan Davidsz de Heem. I added some living specimens - a moth, a butterfly and a snail, and the highlight in the vase is the reflection of a French paned window, one of the beautiful subtleties that I so admire in de Heem's paintings. I entitled this painting 'The Golden Hour', as the lighting depicts the warmth of the sun setting, and as a play on this era of art - The Golden Age.
