Blue and white porcelain is one of my favourite subjects, and combined with the colour orange, I just couldn't resist painting it. I love the challenge of layering porcelain pieces and creating depth in the painting. I am also enamoured with textiles and wanted to create the impression of a silk paneled tapestry on the wall behind the vessels, integrating the background with the foreground,  developing flow and directing the eye. The Asian inspired porcelain pieces combined with the Satsumas created a peaceful and sophisticated composition.
